History of the 1950 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe: It was in 1948 when Cadillac saw its first major post-war redesign, which was inspired by an aircraft design that can be seen across all models, and the first visible rear tailfins on the fenders. In 1949, an all-new OHV V8 engine would find its way under the hood, which would go on to prove to be one of the industry's most successful, long-lived engines! The new highly appreciated motors were not just smaller and lighter, they also provided higher compression and a total of 160 horsepower with 312 lb. ft. of torque. The 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, along with the new one-piece windshields and revised body lines that showcased longer hoods and an overall lower stance, would all become standard equipment in 1950. New parts included front stabilizer bar end links and rear center brake hose. The Interstate battery and hold down were only just installed in August 2019.
